Honored to Serve Ward 8

Councilmember Trayon White, Sr. takes immense pride in serving the vibrant and resilient residents of Ward 8. With a steadfast dedication to community empowerment and equity, he is committed to ensuring that every individual in Ward 8 has the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.

From advocating for improved infrastructure to championing educational and economic initiatives, Councilmember White's unwavering commitment to the well-being of Ward 8 residents is at the heart of his service.

Councilmember White has long been an active community member, establishing non-profit organizations to benefit youth and families in Ward 8. As the Chairman of the Committee on Recreation, Libraries and Youth Affairs, he oversees the Department of Parks and Recreation, District of Columbia Public Libraries, the Department of Youth Affairs and several agencies serving the District's ethnic communities. Councilmember White is about responsive government and equity for all -- ensuring that residents East of the River have the same access to resources and amenities throughout the District.

The Great Ward 8

A new Ward 8 has emerged through the redistricting process. The Ward 8 boundaries were designed to meet a wide range of goals with the community's full input, vision, and support. Ward 8 has expanded by about 6,000 new residents and embodies a melting pot of cultures, legislative needs, and hopes for the future, making Ward 8 more vibrant than ever.
